"Wonderful caring new home for my Mother. I found this home after much research of comparable facilities in the area. I have been very pleased with my choice. I'm out of state and the staff there has helped with my long distance care and communication with my Mother. " Connie Payne "Great community. Clean facility, hardworking CNA's and Med Aides. Fun activities and activities director for the residents. Most of the Support Staff seems like they really genuinely care about the residents rather than numbers. Nurses are pretty caring also" Kayla Meador "The management and staff strive to create a family atmosphere while providing superior medical care. I highly recommend this facility for rehabilitation or long term care for your family! " Susan Contreras - Modena "I'm a hospice nurse who has been caring for patients here for almost 10 years. Levi and his team has really outdone themselves! The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Residents appear well cared for and happy. As a resident of Louisburg, I encourage people to tour and check out first hand the rehab and long-term. "

When she arrived from the hospital, it took them an unreasonable time to start paying attention to her. She came with directions for pain medication which she did not receive until many hours after it was due. She often had difficulty calling a nurse for help, and when she complained, they were rude and dismissive. The discharge process was a nightmare. They abruptly sent her home alone to fend for herself, although her doctor said she wasn't capable. Two staff members had told her she would be given the remainder of the prescribed medicine to take home, but when the time came she was rudely told that sending her home with medicine was against their policy.

Bridget - Resident "The nursing staff here is so kind and caring with the residents. You can see they go above and beyond in all their interactions even when they are busy and sometimes short staffed. The facility is very clean, the food is great, and the activities daily are so fun for the residents. They made my dad's stay here as easy as possible providing the best care in a tough situation. " Jenn Ditty Adams - Resident
"Thankfully they had suspended admissions and resident visitations even prior to this first case along with a lot of other nursing homes and long-term care facilities, " Avula said. "The safety and health of Canterbury residents and staff is our primary concern, " a news release said. "We are working directly with local and state health departments and taking guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) protocols to help contain the spread of the virus. This includes continual monitoring of all residents for COVID-19 symptoms along with daily employee screenings. Those employees with respiratory symptoms and fever are prohibited from entering our lobby. " "What often happens in healthcare facilities is that there is close contact of patients, " Avula said. "They're up and about, dining together. " There was also a fifth COVID-19 case announced in Henrico on Friday. Avula said it involves a man in his 40s who had no known exposure. "The fact that when we're testing relatively healthy people who have not known where they have come into contact, but they've then developed a fever - they're turning positive as well, " Avula said.
"We have community spread going on here in Central Virginia. " In terms of the city of Richmond, Avula announced two new cases. One is a man in his 30s who had traveled to Kentucky earlier this month. The second new case is a woman in her 20s who did not travel but had contact with at least three other individuals who had traveled to Spain recently. Overall, Richmond how has six total cases of COVID-19, while Henrico has seven. Three of Richmond's cases are connected to a group of men who traveled to North Carolina earlier this month. A Henrico woman, who was the first person to test positive for COVID-19 in the County, was also part of that group. Henrico's second case was connected to a man in his 80s who is a resident at Westminster Canterbury Richmond. This man is currently hospitalized at VCU Medical Center. Westminster Canterbury Richmond and Canterbury Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center are not connected, rather are separate facilities with different owners. Copyright 2020 WWBT.
