KINE 500 (4) Advanced Biomechanics Explores how the physical and mechanical properties of organisms and their environment affect biological tissues, structures, and behavior. Demonstrates how principles and techniques from fields such as physics, engineering, functional morphology and physiology can be used to understand motor performance, capability and failure. Emphasis will be placed on investigating causes of injury and disease, and understanding or designing techniques to overcome motor impairments. The laboratory component involves using current biomechanical measurement and analysis techniques to perform detailed investigation of specific movements. KINE 501 (4) Motor Control Investigates the interactions among neural, physiological, and musculoskeletal systems that underlie movement. Evaluates current hypotheses for movement control at the neuromotor and behavioral levels. Emphasis will be placed on neuromotor impairment, and therapeutic and technological approaches to improving motor function.
This emphasis focuses on the fundamental knowledge and skills related to human movement and function, including exercise prescription for health and wellness, injury prevention, and the treatment of human movement dysfunctions. Students interested in pursing Athletic Training can select two different pathways at BSU, the (1) Accelerated MAT 5-year (3+2) degree plan or a the (2) traditional BS in Kinesiology with Rehabilitation Science emphasis (4 year degree) and then apply to the MAT (2 year program).
